Description

A bold and tangy Spicy Dill Pickle Margarita featuring tequila, dill pickle brine, and a touch of hot honey, rimmed with Tajin for an extra kick. This refreshing cocktail is topped with sparkling water and garnished with mini dill pickles, perfect for cocktail enthusiasts looking for a unique twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Rim

  • Tajin, for the rim
  • 1 tbsp hot honey (use to taste)

Cocktail

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz dill pickle brine
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • Sparkling water, to top
  • Mini dill pickles, to garnish

Hot Honey (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank's)
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim: Brush the rim of your cocktail glass with honey to help the Tajin stick. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of Tajin onto a shallow plate, then dip and roll the glass rim into the Tajin, shaking off any excess.
  2. Mix the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, dill pickle brine, Cointreau, lime juice, and hot honey to taste. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously until the mixture is well chilled.
  3. Serve: Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass and top with sparkling water for a refreshing finish.
  4. Garnish: Add mini dill pickles as a garnish to enhance the dill flavor and add visual appeal.
  5. Make hot honey (optional): In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Heat gently for 1-2 minutes while stirring until the spices dissolve into the honey. Allow to cool before using or storing in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks at room temperature or longer refrigerated.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot honey according to your spice preference for a milder or spicier cocktail.
  • If you don't have Tajin, a mix of chili powder and salt can be used for rimming the glass.
  • Sparking water helps balance the strong flavors and adds a refreshing fizz.
  • Mini dill pickles are a fun and thematic garnish but can be omitted if unavailable.
  • Homemade hot honey can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or longer if refrigerated.
