Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 45 Oreo cookies (about an 18 ounce Family Size package)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 10 ounces Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers, divided
Decorations
- 12 mini Oreos, pulled apart
- 24 Rolos candies, dark chocolate for best color match
- Holly sprinkle mix
- Snowman sprinkle mix
Instructions
- Prepare the tray: Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside for later use.
- Crush Oreos: Add the 45 Oreo cookies to a food processor or high-speed blender and pulse until fine crumbs form.
- Mix cream cheese: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened 8 ounces of cream cheese with a hand mixer on high speed until smooth and creamy.
- Combine Oreo crumbs and cream cheese: Add the Oreo crumbs to the bowl and mix on medium speed until well combined into a uniform mixture.
- Form balls and chill: Use a medium cookie scoop to portion the mixture, then roll into smooth balls with your hands. Place them evenly on the prepared tray and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- Make snowman hats: Melt about ¼ cup of the white chocolate wafers in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
- Prepare Oreo halves: Split the 12 mini Oreos in half and scrape off the cream filling, discarding it. Use a skewer to dab melted chocolate onto the flat side of each Oreo half.
- Attach Rolo candies: Immediately place one Rolo candy upside-down on each chocolate-dabbed Oreo half. Decorate the hats with holly sprinkle mix if desired. Let the hats set aside until the chocolate hardens.
- Melt remaining white chocolate: Melt the rest of the white chocolate wafers in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth and fully melted.
- Dip balls in chocolate: Using a fork, dip one Oreo ball at a time into the melted white chocolate. Tap the fork lightly on the bowl edge to even out the coating, then place the coated ball back on the baking tray.
- Add snowman face decorations: While the chocolate is still wet, quickly add Snowman sprinkle mix to create the face, applying two black sugar pearls for eyes, a carrot sprinkle for the nose, and additional black sugar pearls for the smile.
- Attach hats: Place the decorated chocolate hats on top of each snowman head. If the coating has set, use a dab of melted chocolate to secure the hats. Hold them steady for a few seconds to set properly.
- Set and serve: Allow the completed Oreo balls to set completely for about 15 minutes. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Any flavored Oreos can be used as a substitute for the original Oreos.
- If Wilton’s Snowman Decorating Sprinkles are unavailable, use black sugar pearls or black icing gel for the eyes and smile, and orange sprinkles or orange Tic Tacs for the nose.
- Store leftover Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
