Description

Pretzel M&M Hugs are a delightful and easy-to-make sweet and salty treat featuring crunchy pretzels topped with melted Hershey's Hugs chocolates and colorful Milk Chocolate M&M's. Perfect for holiday parties or any occasion, these bite-sized snacks combine sweet chocolate with salty pretzels for a delicious flavor contrast.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 70 square pretzels (do NOT use butter snaps)
  • 70 Hershey's Hugs chocolates (from nearly 1 full 12 oz package), unwrapped
  • 70 Milk Chocolate M&M's (use red and green Christmas package or any preferred color)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and line a cookie sheet with a Silpat mat or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Arrange Pretzels and Add Chocolates: Place the pretzels in a single layer on the lined cookie sheet. Top each pretzel with one unwrapped Hershey's Hug chocolate.
  3. Bake for Melting Chocolate: Bake the pretzels with the chocolates in the preheated oven for 5 minutes, until the chocolates are shiny and soft but still hold their shape.
  4. Add M&M's and Press: Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and immediately place one Milk Chocolate M&M on top of each softened Hug. Gently press down the M&M to spread the chocolate around.
  5. Chill to Set Chocolate: Transfer the cookie sheet to the freezer or refrigerator and let the pretzel treats chill for 15 minutes until the chocolate has fully set.
  6. Store: Once set, store the Pretzel M&M Hugs in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Do not use butter snap pretzels as they may not provide the right crunch and salt balance.
  • Use a Silpat or parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Press M&M's gently to avoid breaking the pretzels or overly melting the chocolate.
  • Chilling in the freezer speeds up the chocolate setting process, but refrigeration works as well.
  • These treats can be stored at room temperature for several days, but refrigeration will keep them fresh longer.
