Scale
Base
- 36-42 golden Oreo cookies
- 6 ounce cream cheese, room temperature
- 20 drops pink food coloring, divided
Coating and Decoration
- 16 ounces vanilla candy coating
- Favorite Valentine sprinkles
Instructions
- Crush Cookies: Place 36 golden Oreo cookies in a food processor or seal them in a plastic bag and crush until fine crumbs form.
- Mix with Cream Cheese: Transfer Oreo crumbs to a mixing bowl, add 6 ounces of softened cream cheese and 10 drops of pink food coloring, mix thoroughly until the mixture sticks together well.
- Form Balls: Using a small ice cream scoop or spoon, scoop uniform portions and roll them into firm 1 1/4 inch balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Repeat until all mixture is used. Freeze the balls while preparing the coating.
- Melt Coating: Break 16 ounces of vanilla candy coating into pieces, place in a microwave-safe bowl, and microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
- Dip Truffles: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each truffle ball into the melted coating, gently tapping off excess against the bowl edge, then place back on parchment paper.
- Decorate: While the coating is still soft, sprinkle your favorite Valentine sprinkles on top of each truffle to decorate.
- Set Coating: Place the coated truffles in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to allow the coating to set completely.
- Serve: Serve the truffles at room temperature for the best taste and texture. Enjoy your Valentine’s Oreo Truffles!
Notes
- Store Oreo truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to keep freshness.
- You can freeze the truffles for up to 3 months; thaw them overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
- If you don’t have a food processor, place Oreos in a Ziploc bag and crush with a rolling pin, including the filling.
- If the Oreo and cream cheese mixture seems too soft to hold shape, add more crushed cookie crumbs until firm.
- Use a toothpick to clean excess candy coating off the dipping tool for a neater finish.
- Before the coating hardens, add extra decoration like crushed candies or nuts for variety.
- Consider drizzling contrasting colored melted chocolate on hardened truffles for a creative look matching any celebration.
- Keep truffles cold or serve at room temperature according to preference; cream cheese can safely stay out for up to 2 hours.
