- 5 ounces chopped white chocolate (about ¾ cup)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper. Unwrap and crush candy canes into small pieces.
- Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Reduce heat to low and add most of the marshmallows, reserving 1 cup for later. Stir continuously until marshmallows are completely melted and combined with butter.
- Add flavor and cereal: Remove pot from heat. Stir in peppermint extract, Rice Krispies cereal, 2 tablespoons of the crushed candy canes, and the reserved marshmallows. Mix well to combine evenly.
- Press mixture into pan: Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and gently press into an even layer without compacting. Use the empty butter wrapper, buttered hands, or spatula to press down evenly.
- Melt chocolates: In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt dark chocolate and white chocolate by heating in 20-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth and fully melted.
- Decorate treats: Drizzle both melted chocolates over the Rice Krispies treats. Gently shake the pan to spread and smooth the chocolate layers. Sprinkle the remaining crushed candy cane pieces on top for garnish.
- Set and slice: Let the treats set completely at room temperature until the chocolate hardens. Once set, slice into 18 squares and serve.
