Description

A refreshing homemade peach iced tea featuring a luscious peach syrup made from fresh or frozen peaches, combined with black tea and served over ice with frozen peach slices for a perfect summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 family size tea bag

Peach Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)

For Serving

  • 2 cups frozen peaches (do not thaw; if using fresh peaches, slice and freeze until ready to serve)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Steep the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes. Pour the brewed tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set aside.
  2. Make the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, sugar, and honey. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Add the pureed peaches and return the mixture to a low boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Strain the Syrup: Pour the peach syrup through a mesh sieve over a bowl, pressing the peach pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the solids.
  4. Combine Syrup and Tea: Add the peach syrup to the brewed tea, tasting as you go to adjust sweetness. Typically, 1 to 2 cups of syrup are mixed into the 4 cups (1 quart) of tea to achieve a pleasant sweetness. For a single 8-ounce serving, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup syrup.
  5. Serve: Divide the frozen peaches among 4 glasses, add ice cubes, and pour the peach tea over the peaches and ice. Serve immediately.
  6. Store Leftovers: Store any unused peach syrup and leftover tea in the refrigerator for future use.

Notes

  • Using frozen peaches works well and provides a delicious peach flavor even when fresh peaches are unavailable.
  • Store leftover tea and syrup in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
  • If using fresh peaches for serving, slice and freeze them beforehand to keep your drink perfectly chilled without dilution.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of peach syrup added to your tea to suit your taste.
