Description
Tender steak bites cooked in garlic butter with fresh herbs, perfect for a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner. This recipe is simple, delicious, and can be made Paleo, Whole30, and dairy-free by choosing ghee instead of butter.
Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Seasoning
- 1/2 tablespoon avocado oil
- 2 pounds steak, cut into small bite-size pieces
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- Green onion, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the steak: In a medium bowl, combine the steak bites with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well until all pieces are evenly coated with the seasoning.
- Cook the steak bites: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the avocado oil and allow it to get hot. Place the steak bites in a single layer in the skillet, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned on all sides. Remove the cooked steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté the garlic: Remove any excess liquid from the skillet to prevent splattering. Add the butter or ghee to the pan and let it melt over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant but not burnt.
- Combine and finish cooking: Return the cooked steak bites to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring to coat the steak evenly with the sauce. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Garnish and serve: Transfer the garlic butter steak bites to a serving dish. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For dairy-free or Whole30 compliant version, substitute butter with ghee.
- Ensure not to overcrowd the skillet to get a nice browned crust on the steak bites; cook in batches if necessary.
- You can adjust the red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level or omit for no heat.
- Use freshly minced garlic for best flavor; pre-minced garlic can be used in a pinch but may be less fragrant.
- Resting the steak bites briefly after cooking is optional but helps retain juices.
