Description

This Garlic Bread Pizza recipe combines the buttery, garlicky goodness of classic garlic bread with the melty, savory toppings of a pizza. Perfect for a quick and delicious dinner, it features French bread topped with garlic butter, pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and parmesan cheese baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Butter

  • ½ cup salted butter softened
  • 6 garlic cloves finely minced or pressed
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

French Bread Pizzas

  • 1 pound French bread or Italian bread
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 8 ounces low-moisture mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 15 pepperoni slices
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400℉. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Make Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix together the softened salted butter, minced garlic, and chopped fresh parsley until well combined.
  3. Prepare Bread: Cut the French bread in half lengthwise to make two long pieces, similar to preparing garlic bread.
  4. Butter the Bread: Spread half of the garlic butter mixture evenly on each piece of the cut bread, placing them cut side up on the prepared sheet pan.
  5. Initial Bake: Bake the bread with garlic butter for 5 minutes to slightly toast and melt the butter.
  6. Add Sauce and Toppings: Remove the bread from the oven and spread ¼ cup of pizza sauce on each half. Then evenly divide the shredded mozzarella, pepperoni slices, and parmesan cheese across the two bread halves.
  7. Bake Pizza: Return the prepared bread pizzas to the oven and bake for 18 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and let the pizzas sit for 2-3 minutes. Garnish with optional red pepper flakes, chopped parsley, and additional parmesan cheese if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a bakery-style loaf with a soft crust for the best texture and flavor.
  • For quicker preparation, substitute frozen garlic bread in place of the bread and garlic butter mixture; skip the garlic butter and simply add sauce, cheese, and toppings.
  • Freshly shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese yields the best melty texture and flavor.
  • Mixing some Parmesan with mozzarella enhances the cheesy flavor.
  • Allow the pizza to rest for a few minutes after baking to avoid burning your mouth and to let flavors meld.
