Description

A festive and refreshing Christmas Sangria combining fresh fruits, aromatic herbs, and a blend of sweet red wine, apple cider, and cranberry juice for a perfect holiday beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits and Garnishes

  • 1.5 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 navel orange
  • 1 orange sliced
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Cinnamon sticks

Liquids and Sweeteners

  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 2 cups unfiltered apple cider
  • 1 cup unsweetened 100% cranberry juice
  • 1 bottle sweet red wine of choice (750 ml)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Wash and slice the apples and one orange. Slice the second orange and set aside. Measure out fresh or frozen cranberries.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, add the sliced apples, sliced orange, whole cranberries, and the navel orange.
  3. Add Liquids and Sweeteners: Pour in the sweet red wine, cranberry juice, apple cider, lemon juice, and honey into the pitcher. Stir thoroughly to combine all the flavors evenly.
  4. Garnish: Place fresh rosemary sprigs and cinnamon sticks on top as aromatic garnish to enhance the festive aroma.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate the sangria for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together and chill before serving.
  6. Serve: Stir gently before serving, pour into glasses with some fruit, and enjoy the refreshing holiday sangria.

Notes

  • Use unfiltered apple cider for a richer flavor. If unavailable, fresh apple juice can be substituted.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the honey amount according to your taste preference.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, replace the sweet red wine with additional cranberry juice or sparkling water.
  • Letting the sangria sit overnight enhances the depth of flavors.
  • Add ice cubes when serving to keep the sangria cold without diluting it too quickly.
