Description

The Dirty Snowman is an indulgent adult hot chocolate recipe combining rich vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, liqueurs, and hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream and chocolate garnishes. Perfect for cozy winter nights, this creamy, boozy treat offers a delightful twist on classic hot chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Drink

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles
  • ½ cup vanilla ice cream (1 scoop)
  • ¼ cup Kahlua
  • 1 tablespoon dark creme de cacao liqueur
  • 1 cup hot chocolate

For Garnish

  • Whipped cream
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Coarse sanding sugar
  • Additional chocolate syrup
  • Additional chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Glass Rim: Place 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup on a small plate. Turn the glass upside down and dip the rim into the chocolate syrup to coat it.
  2. Add Chocolate Sprinkles: Dip the syrup-coated rim into a shallow tray of 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles until it is thoroughly coated.
  3. Add Ice Cream: Place one scoop (½ cup) of vanilla ice cream into the glass or mug.
  4. Add Liqueurs: Pour ¼ cup Kahlua and 1 tablespoon dark creme de cacao liqueur over the ice cream in the glass.
  5. Pour Hot Chocolate: Carefully pour 1 cup hot chocolate over the ice cream and liqueur mixture.
  6. Top and Garnish: Finish by topping with whipped cream and garnish with mini chocolate chips, coarse sanding sugar, chocolate syrup, and chocolate sprinkles as desired.

Notes

  • Prepare the drink just before serving to maintain the quality and texture.
  • Hot chocolate and liquor amounts can be multiplied and mixed in advance, but pour individually over ice cream scoops before serving.
  • Feel free to experiment with different liqueurs such as rum, coconut rum, Bailey's, or chocolate vodka for varied flavors.
  • Chocolate or a combination of ice cream flavors can be substituted to customize the drink.
  • This drink is rich and the alcohol flavor is balanced; increase alcohol quantity if a stronger drink is preferred.
  • Use quality hot chocolate for the best flavor—homemade or from Hershey’s cocoa powder recipe recommended.
