Description

Crispy, guilt-free Air Fryer Fried Pickles made with crunchy panko breadcrumbs and savory steak seasoning. This easy snack is perfect for healthy, flavorful snacking, prepared quickly in the air fryer for a crispy finish without deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale

Pickles

  • 6 pickles (cut into 12 quarters)

Breading

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Montreal Steak seasoning or regular steak seasoning

Other

  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dredging stations: In a medium bowl, place the flour. In a second medium bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together. In a third medium bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and steak seasoning.
  2. Coat the pickles: Dip each pickle quarter first in the flour, ensuring it is fully coated. Then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat well with the seasoned panko breadcrumbs. Place the coated pickles onto a plate as you go.
  3. Prepare the air fryer basket: Spray the air fryer basket generously with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Arrange pickles in the basket: Place the coated pickles in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not touch to allow even air circulation. Spray the tops of the pickles with cooking spray for extra crispiness.
  5. Air fry the pickles: Cook at 380°F for 6 minutes until golden and crispy. Repeat in batches if needed.
  6. Serve: Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce for a delicious snack.

Notes

  • Use dill pickle quarters for the best flavor; commonly found in the refrigerated section of grocery stores.
  • Arrange pickles so they don’t touch in the air fryer to ensure crisp, even cooking.
  • Panko breadcrumbs give a nice crunchy texture; regular breadcrumbs can be substituted but will be less crispy.
  • Cooking time may vary depending on pickle size and thickness; adjust accordingly.
  • Spraying the air fryer basket and tops with cooking spray ensures the pickles don’t stick and enhances crispiness.
  • Store cooked fried pickles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
  • Do not freeze the fried pickles as they lose crispiness upon thawing.
  • Reheat fried pickles in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
