Description

This easy Air Fryer Grilled Cheese recipe delivers perfectly crispy, buttery bread with melty cheese inside in just 10 minutes. Ideal for a quick lunch or snack, it uses an air fryer to achieve a golden, crunchy texture without a skillet or oven.

Bread and Cheese

  • 8 slices bread
  • 8 slices cheese (or roughly ½ cup shredded cheese per sandwich)

Other Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened, at room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees F (188 degrees C). For a convection style air fryer, select 'AIR FRY' and set the timer to 8 minutes for optimal cooking temperature.
  2. Butter the Bread: Butter one side of each of the 8 slices of bread generously. Arrange half the buttered bread slices onto the air fryer racks butter side down if using a convection style air fryer.
  3. Add Cheese: Place the cheese slices or shredded cheese on top of the buttered side of the bread on the rack. Trim excess cheese off the edges if desired to prevent melting over the sides.
  4. Assemble Sandwich: Top with the remaining buttered bread slices, butter side facing up. Sprinkle each sandwich with garlic salt for added flavor.
  5. Cook in Air Fryer: For convection style air fryers, add the racks back into the air fryer when prompted, then flip the sandwiches and swap rack positions when the air fryer indicates to 'TURN FOOD.' For basket style air fryers, place the sandwich(es) in the basket and cook for 5 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 3 minutes until golden and cheese is melted.
