Ingredients
Scale
Red Fudge Layer
- 2 1/4 cups white chocolate chips
- 2/3 can sweetened condensed milk (about 7 ounces)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 10 drops red food coloring
White Fudge Layer
- 1 1/4 cups white chocolate chips
- 1/3 can sweetened condensed milk (about 3.5 ounces)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Topping
- 1 tablespoon heart-shaped sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8x8 inch square pan with parchment paper or sprayed aluminum foil to prevent sticking and allow easy removal of fudge.
- Make the Red Fudge Layer: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups white chocolate chips, 2/3 can sweetened condensed milk, and 2 tablespoons butter. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, for less than 2 minutes until melted and smooth. Add 10 drops of red food coloring and mix until evenly combined.
- Set First Layer: Spoon half of the red fudge mixture into the prepared pan and smooth it out with a spoon. Place the pan in the freezer for a few minutes to let it set. Keep remaining red fudge warm by wrapping the bowl with towels.
- Make the White Fudge Layer: In another microwave-safe bowl, mix the remaining white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and 1 tablespoon butter. Microwave similarly in 20-second bursts, stirring each time until melted and smooth.
- Add White Layer: Pour the white fudge over the set red layer in the pan and spread evenly. Return the pan to the freezer for a few minutes to set this layer.
- Add Top Red Layer: Warm the reserved red fudge slightly so it’s stirrable again. Spoon this over the white fudge layer and smooth it out.
- Chill: Cover the fudge with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours to fully set.
- Cut and Decorate: Lift the fudge from the pan using the parchment paper. On a countertop, use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out hearts efficiently, minimizing waste. Evenly sprinkle with heart-shaped sprinkles on top.
- Serve: Enjoy the festive Valentine Hearts Fudge or store as desired.
Notes
- Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Bring to room temperature before serving for softer texture.
- For freezing, wrap fudge in parchment paper, then tightly in aluminum foil; freeze up to two months.
- Use high-quality white chocolate chips for better melting and texture; generic brands may not melt properly.
- Be sure to use sweetened condensed milk—not evaporated milk—as evaporated milk won't help fudge set properly.
- Avoid overcooking fudge to prevent graininess.
- Lining the pan with foil or parchment paper helps lift the fudge easily for cutting.
