Description

Delight in festive fun with these Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats, featuring colorful green marshmallow-based treats shaped like Christmas trees, adorned with pretzel trunks, white chocolate, and sprinkles. Perfect for holiday celebrations and easy to make with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 16 ounces marshmallows (1 bag)
  • 3 drops green gel food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 ½ cups rice krispies cereal

Decorations

  • 12 pretzel sticks
  • Christmas sprinkles
  • 4 ounces white chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add Color and Flavor: Remove the pot from heat; stir in the green gel food coloring and vanilla extract until fully blended.
  4. Combine Cereal: Fold in the rice krispies cereal until each piece is coated evenly with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Shape the Treats: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and press gently to spread evenly without compacting too firmly to keep treats soft.
  6. Set and Cut: Let the treats set at room temperature for at least one hour. Once firm, slice horizontally in half, then cut into triangles to resemble Christmas trees.
  7. Decorate: Melt the white chocolate according to package directions. Insert one pretzel stick into the base of each triangle to form the tree trunk. Pipe the melted white chocolate onto the trees and add Christmas sprinkles for festive decoration.
  8. Serve: Allow chocolate to set, then enjoy the festive rice krispie treats!

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows and rice krispies cereal for the best flavor and texture; stale ingredients lead to less enjoyable treats.
  • Store the formed treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain freshness.
  • Do not press the mixture too firmly into the baking dish to avoid hard treats; press gently to keep them soft and chewy.
