Description

Delicious bacon wrapped chicken bites coated in brown sugar for a perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors. These crispy, juicy appetizers are easy to prepare and bake in the oven, making them ideal for parties or a tasty snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken and Bacon

  • 2 chicken breasts (boneless and skinless, cut into 1 inch cubes)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • 12 slices bacon (thin cut, cut into halves or thirds)

Coating and Garnish

  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350℉ to ensure it’s ready for baking the chicken bites.
  2. Prepare Baking Sheet: Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil to make cleanup easier, then place a cooling rack on top of the baking sheet.
  3. Season Chicken: Season the cubed chicken breast pieces with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Wrap with Bacon: Cut each bacon slice into halves or thirds depending on thickness. Wrap each chicken cube with a piece of bacon. The bacon should adhere without the need for toothpicks.
  5. Coat with Brown Sugar: Roll each bacon-wrapped chicken piece in the packed brown sugar, ensuring they are thoroughly coated.
  6. Arrange for Baking: Place the coated chicken bites on the prepared baking rack. Sprinkle a little more salt and pepper over the top for extra seasoning.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes or until the bacon is crispy and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165℉. Start checking at 30 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh, colorful presentation. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Bacon Choice: Thinner slices of bacon work best as they crisp up nicely without overcooking the chicken.
  • Sugar Swap: Dark brown sugar is recommended for its rich molasses flavor, but light brown or granulated sugar may be used as alternatives.
  • Cooking Time: Oven temperatures vary, so start checking around 30 minutes. Chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165℉.
  • Freezer-Friendly: Prepare ahead and freeze for up to 3 months. Increase cooking time when baking from frozen.
